Do you read food ingredient labels? Are you careful about the food that you eat? Would you prefer to eat food that is free of chemicals?
Maybe you also check where your food is produced and are concened whether proper production processes and hygiene practices are in place.
You may have other environmental, fair trade and animal welfare concerns that you consider important when making your food purchases.
There is no doubt that more and more informed people are also concerned about what they put on their skin, and they should be!
Recent sudies show that on average we can expose ourselves to 500 chemicals during our daily skin and hair care regime.
Of course, these chemicals are not just a problem for your body on a daily basis, but end up going down the drain and into the waterways and out into the ocean.
Most women would use up to 13 personal care products a day
|
I counted my daily product use which include:
- Dry brushing, adding a few drops of essential oil to my brush.
- Soap or body wash in the shower
- Facial cleanser
- Facial scrub—not every day
- Shampoo and conditioner used in the shower—although not every day.
- Hydrosol for skin blanching and refreshing
- Body moisturiser or a personalised essential oil blend—depending what I am working on at the time!
- Deodorant
- Toothpaste
- Eye gel
- Vitamin C Serum
- Moisturiser
- Hair molding cream
Then for makeup:
I use a mineral makeup for my face and eye shadow and a lipstick that is chemical free.
More than 13 products. All chemical free.
Apparently perfume is one of the biggest culprits as it can contain from 250 ingredients with some equating to 400 chemicals.
It’s obviously much safer and beneficial to use nature’s essential oils.
